Seung Hee Jeon honored honored by Republic of South Korea
Seung Hee Jeon, an associate professor of the practice and the Korean coordinator in the Eastern, Slavic, and German Studies Department, has received a Presidential Commendation from the Republic of Korea in recognition of her contributions to fostering public understanding and support for peace and peaceful unification on the Korean peninsula.
The citation by Republic of Korea President Lee Jae Myung recognized Jeon鈥檚 significant efforts to 鈥渁dvance dialogue, education, and community engagement related to peacebuilding and shared prosperity on the Korean peninsula.鈥
She was presented with the honor by the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Boston in March..
Jeon has published articles on trauma, memories, and truth in war, as well as on strategies to achieve peace in and around Korea. Her translations include Conscience in Action: The Autobiography of Kim Dae-jung, the authoritative biography of the late South Korean president and 2000 Nobel Peace Prize winner.
